María de la Orden - Josefina Muse #45

A Parisian by adoption, María is a one-of-a-kind designer. She embodies a retro, poetic and colourful elegance. She soon began creating vintage-inspired pieces using fabrics bought on her travels. Her collections have a strong identity, with very assertive looks: bows, patterns, big collars, smocks and big accessories... She likes to dare the total look, which gives her a graceful, delicate and feminine allure. The world of Maria de la Orden has become a reference of the European fashion. She is the mother of Cosima and expecting her second child. 

 

María, how did you end up living in Paris?

I came to Paris 12 years ago to study, and later on, I started working there and launched my own brands.

How did you start working in fashion?

I've always had a passion for fashion and knew I wanted to work in the industry, so I began interning at fashion-related positions while studying.

How do you define the Maria de la Orden Studio collection?

I'd describe it as timeless pieces with a modern twist—vibrant, effortless, and budget-friendly.

What is the coolest vintage piece you’ve ever purchased or inherited and the story behind it?

I have many stories involving vintage items, but my favorite is my grandmother's Hermes Kelly bag, which I wear almost daily.

 

 

If you could have a drink with one icon who would it be? where in Paris would you take him/her? and what would you ask him/her?

I'd choose Jackie Kennedy. I'd invite her to Le Voltaire and ask her about the person she admires most.

Japanese restaurant Komatsubaki.

'd describe my style as classic with a twist—I enjoy incorporating playful accessories to add a touch of humor to my outfits.

Start with cozy knit pieces as your foundation, then elevate your look with accessories to add that extra touch of style.

Tips for mums during pregnancy?

To stay active during pregnancy, I recommend gentle yoga and Pilates.

What do you like the most about motherhood?

The unconditional love and connection I feel with my daughter.

What do you think is the biggest challenge as a mum?

I believe the greatest challenge as a mother is balancing work, being present for your children, and prioritizing self-care.

Who inspires you as a mum?

My greatest inspiration is my mother, who continues to be a constant source of support and guidance in my life.
